Household Tasks

Household Tasks Support

A clean, safe, and well-maintained home is foundational to health and wellbeing — but for many NDIS participants, the physical demands of managing a household are genuinely difficult or impossible to manage alone. When household tasks pile up, the impact is not just practical. A disorganised or unhygienic home affects mental health, physical safety, and the ability to participate in daily life with confidence.

Benity Care’s household tasks support service helps NDIS participants maintain their homes in a way that supports their independence, their dignity, and their quality of life. Our workers are reliable, respectful, and practical — delivering support that keeps each participant’s home the way they want it, without taking over or imposing their own standards.

What Household Tasks Support Covers

Household tasks support is a funded NDIS service that covers the domestic assistance participants need to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment. It is not the same as a general cleaning service — it is disability-specific support that recognises the real impact an inaccessible or unmanageable home can have on a participant’s daily life.

At Benity Care, household tasks support includes regular cleaning and tidying, laundry management, meal preparation, and basic home organisation. Every visit is tailored to the participant’s specific needs and preferences — not a generic checklist applied uniformly to every home.

Our Approach

Benity Care approaches household tasks support with a straightforward principle: your home is your space, and we are there to help — not to take over. Our workers follow each participant’s preferences, work at a pace that is comfortable, and respect the fact that entering someone’s home is a privilege.

We match workers to participants carefully, considering not just location and availability but personality, communication style, and cultural background where relevant. For participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, we ensure our workers are briefed on any relevant cultural preferences relating to food preparation, the treatment of specific areas of the home, or preferred products and methods.

We also promote independence wherever a participant’s goals include developing their own home management capacity. For participants who want to be involved in household tasks but need support to do so safely, our workers assist and coach — not replace.

Who Household Tasks Support Is For

Household tasks support is for NDIS participants whose disability limits their capacity to perform domestic tasks independently or safely. This includes people with physical disabilities that affect mobility, stamina, or fine motor control; cognitive disabilities that make organising and sequencing household tasks difficult; chronic fatigue or pain conditions that make physical exertion highly taxing; mental health conditions that affect motivation or executive function; and sensory disabilities that create barriers to effective home management.

It is relevant whether you live alone, with family, or in shared accommodation. Benity Care tailors the scope and frequency of household support to reflect your individual living situation and the areas where you genuinely need assistance.

FAQ’s

Got questions? We’ve got answers

How is household tasks support funded in my NDIS plan?

Household tasks support is funded under Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life. This is one of the most flexible funding categories in the NDIS. If you are unsure how this applies to your plan, Benity Care can help you understand your funding.

Visit frequency depends on your individual needs and the funding available in your plan. Common arrangements range from weekly to fortnightly visits, though some participants require more frequent support. We will work with you to find a schedule that keeps your home safe and comfortable.

This depends on your preference and individual arrangement. Some participants choose to be present; others provide access and are out during the visit. We will discuss what works best for you during your intake.

Yes. Many participants receive household tasks support alongside personal care, community access, or other services from Benity Care. Coordinated support packages are often more efficient and better integrated.

We follow your preferences exactly. During your first visit, your worker will go through your home with you and document your specific routines and preferences. Your home is managed your way — not ours.
